Forgiving Lieberman
Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman campaigned against his Party in the 2008 Presidential election to support his friend John McCain, Republican nominee for President. In the process he made some disparaging remarks about Senator Barack Obama. Now that Obama is President Elect, and is urging fellow Democrats to forgive Lieberman's "transgressions", a lot of people are calling his act of forgiveness a "sign of weakness".
"The best way to destroy an enemy is to make him a friend."
- Abraham Lincoln
Obama is going to have to do a lot of consensus-building if he's going to help dig our nation out of this social and economic mess we're in. This good political maneuver is an act of assured strength.
